How do you find laundromats while on a long road-trip, mostly boondocking / dry camping?I find they don't often advertise on Google for some reason, or they're not very common.I've used the CG laundry in the past, but often they're small capacity machines, and doing several weeks of laundry is a great test of patience... not to mention many many quarters.No W/D in my tiny trailer.

Good question. They're harder to find than propane. Often they leave signs up but are closed, not on GPS. Just have to look around or, heaven forbid, ask someone. I try to not let my laundry go that long! In a pinch I'll wash clothes in the shower.

I found that every town has one even the little podunk towns. So where ever you decide to go into town for supplies there will be one. I usually just ask the gas station clerk when I am fueling, or grocery store cash register person 'they' seem to always know where the laundromat 'is' in town. :C

My GPS (Magellan RoadMate) has a laundromat POI subcategory that seems to be pretty thorough.Searching on Google Maps for "Laundromat near " also seems to work pretty well, even if the business in question doesn't have a web site, at least around me here.

Bing has worked for us when we searched for them.

We have a w/d in our coach so it's no longer an issue for us. Before we had that we just asked at the CG office, or other campers.

Just an add on.....went to one town and found 2 on the GPS.....couldn't find them. Finally stopped at a grocery store and they said both had gone out of business and gave us directions to the only one in town....the one that was NOT on Google, GPS, etc. :) :) So, ask at the grocery store!

If I am staying in a CG odds are they have a laundry,, though not all do.

If on the road Flying-J and some other large truck plazas will have them.

If all else fails I open the Google App on my cell phone. tap the microphone option and say "Nearest Laundromat" and it goes BLEEP and up pops my answer.

Finding just any old laundromat is not all that hard. Finding one with front-loaders for large loads- that's different. No way I'm washing my expensive sheets in small agitator machines.

i just keep a bag of quarters in with laundry.

i've never had 'small' washers in any CG i've been to, usually they don't have very many.

as to how to find them, use CG washers/dryers (just ask) and my gps has helped me, sometimes. and of course, just ask...that should cover all of your needs.

I usually combine laundry with a grocery shopping and cooking day. I cook lots of food and freeze it. On campground electricity ;).

Also, pack lots of underwear -- it is small and lightweight. 2 weeks worth, at least!

I'm with Veebyes - when it's time for a laundry we hit a CG with one. Prefer those in CG's, as I can do a couple loads in between dinner, showers, whatever. I just use the alarm on my watch to let me know when to return to put it in the dryer or take it out, etc. If we're in town, harder to just walk away from all our clothes, etc!!! ST
