I'm always amazed that in our area state parks say buy wood on site, don't bring any. Then I saw a tractor trailer bring in wood to the campground. It was harvested 300 miles east of the campground in far eastern oregon and we were at a campground on the oregon coast.
I've noticed that too, its absurd.
Usually if you pay attention on main roads leading in to the campground, some entrepreneur will be selling firewood for WAY less than the campground. Since its local, no worries about transporting insects.
My father in law is a contractor. He usually saves all his untreated scrap wood from demo and brings that camping. Usually its old studs from walls he removes. Over the course of a couple months, he gets quite a bit. Its kiln dried and bug free.
I might suggest you make some inquires with local contractors. They would otherwise have to pay to dispose of the wood as waste. They might be very willing to work with you to get you scrap wood to take and burn.
