Flashlight for camping needed

We bought a pack of three bright LED flashlights at Home Depot about 4 years ago and haven't replaced the batteries yet! They're fairly small - maybe 3/4" diameter and 4" long.

Since we sold the RV we use them to find our way to the bathroom at 02:00! They're more than bright enough.

Exactly my thoughts when I read the post, even before you mentioned the other forums. Why isn't this thread closed/deleted or is there not a rule against commercial posters doing marketing research?

I use the flashlight in my smart phone. Simple, bright and I always have it with me.

I have owned expensive flashlights and the cheap ones. In my experience, the best thing to do is hit HF, Tractor Supply, or even Office Depot, buy a bunch of the el cheapo anodized aluminum flashlights. I toss one in every map pocket, cupholder, or container in my vehicle.

The most important thing is having a flashlight ready to go when you need one. The cheap ones may not throw 2000 lumens... but any lumens is better than none, and having quantity over quality is important.

Aluminum flashlights suffer a lot of fates. They get borrowed to never return. They wind up being placed somewhere and forgotten. The batteries leak rendering the device unusable. In any case, losing a $1 unit is a lot less sorrowful than a $100 light.

Go to Big Lots or one of the local Dollar stores and buy the card of 2 or 3 el cheapo led pocket lights. Even get a couple of packages of them and carry one with you in a pocket and spread the others around thru the Rv, tool box, drawer or two. That way they are around and handy and if one is lost or misplaced or goes dead no big deal. A hundred dollar flash light I am sure would be nice and would drive you crazy when you momentarily misplaced it.

Picked up a couple of these at Costco. Been great so far!

I am a flashlight junky. The $10 Cree lites are $10 on EBay. 2000, 2500 lumens.

I also like the free ones from Harbor Freight. Free. Have about 10 laying around handy.

Find a nice head light. They can be handy.

I also have a Streamlight Siege LED lantern. It is a very well made and designed lantern. Hangs either direction. Has high, medium and low, O ring seals, etc $35.

Harbor freight also gives away a cigarette sized 20 or so LED light that hangs. Free.


They also have a $2 light that looks like a pencil that clips on your clothes or pocket.

Not even $50 counting the $35 lantern. The Harbor Freight lights are free.
I got a $50 Maglite XL200 for Fathers Day a few years ago. It got stolen at work.
