I like Tom Sawyer's in West Memphis, Ar. Memphis is not safe at times and this is a nice little park outside the war zone.
Nice park when we stayed in 2005. Fun seeing tge barges going by day and night.
Flaguy - RSD559ExplorerNot meaning to sidetrack the topic, but some are not understanding the purpose of these forums. We can google for campgrounds, and about half of the time, we get an accurate appraisal of a campground. But the other half can be way off! Example, we were searching for a campground to spend a night enroute. Found one with rave reviews and 5 stars. It ended up being a dumpy, old residential park with a couple of parking spots for overnighters. Guides can be manipulated and scammed, and misunderstood. Not a huge problem here. I believe there is a better forum in RV.Net for the question, but it is an appropriate question. And I enjoy hearing about other people's experiences with places I plan to go. Stepping off the soapbox.
- TimtationExplorerWe've stayed in Ez Daze just west of West Memphis and found it quite nice, it's in Southaven, MS.
If you are coming west on I-70 to STL and you want to see river scenery detour north on MO 79 to Louisiana, cross to the IL side,go east to the IL river then down to the confluence with the MS at Grafton. Pere Marquette SP is a nice stop with good sites, Lodge etc. Continue down the Great River Road, one of the first designated Scenic Byways, catch IL RT 3 and see Fort de Chartres and the Pierre Menard house then off to I-55 and its approximation of following the MS. - GrandpaKipExplorer IIWe liked Tom Sawyer’s, also.
Not in Pensacola, but Fort Pickens State Park is close with nice beaches. We watched the Blue Angels practice over the sound last time we were there. - LynnsrExplorer

Looks like you might be a good candidate for a Campground Directory. You can also do a Google search for `______ campgrounds' and put the town you plan to visit in the space.
I have all types of directory info, looking for actual experience of members.
Thanks

- gmw_photosExplorerIf your journey takes you thru southern Illinois, somewhat east of the Mississippi River, the place I am sitting right now is beautiful. Dixon Springs State Park, near Golconda, Il. There is water here, but not at each site.
- csjag1ExplorerSecond the vote for Tom Sawyer's RV Park in West Memphis. We've stayed there many times the past 2 years - it is right on the banks of the Mississippi River. Only about 2-1/2 miles off of I-40 and easy to get to.
- campiglooExplorerThere is a private park at West Memphis that is on the backside of the levee right on the river. Can't remember the name but a really neat place. A short drive from there to Graceland. Further south off I 55 at Fernwood (McComb) MS is Percy Quinn SP. We always plan 2 nights here, minimum, so we can go to the Dinner Bell. Southern comfort food at its best! Located in a neighborhood in an old house, sit in the parlor or the living room at a huge round table seating maybe 10-15 people. It's all you can eat, no menu. Lunch only is served. Sit at a table with a giant lazy susan and snag a bowl of food as it passes by. Fun and great food.
Bayou Segnette SP in in Westwego, just across the river 20 minutes from the French Quarter. Don't miss the WWII museum. Be sure to catch the movie, well worth the money.
From there you can go to several plantations. Nottaway, Laura, Oak Alley are some of the best.
When you head east you can either take I10 or the scenic route, US90, along the gulf toward Mobile. The vacant lots from Buccaneer SP east are where very nice old houses were before hurricanes Camille and Katrina. They pretty much got everything. Nice state park at Mobile if you want to check out the battleship USS Alabama. If you take 10 be sure to stop and experience the Alabama welcome center. It's really quite a place.
On to Pensacola Beach. Ft. Pickens SP is a great place with a WWII era fort to tour. RESERVE AHEAD. Plenty of white sand beaches and the beautiful water you expect to see. A meal at Peg Leg Pete's is a must do. Great food, good prices and a restaurant to experience. A really fun place!
Hope you have a good trip. Bon appatite!! - NJRVerExplorerStayed at a state park in Missouri I believe the Trail of Tears.
