I am located in central Florida and today I noticed a few love bugs flying around the jeep parked while shopping.:EI will be driving the MH to Georgia tomorrow along I-75. Sure hope they are not a problem this early.If I get any, I will make sure to wash them of when parked.

They haven't reached north central Florida yet. One thing that's nice up here and on the west side is there is always a breeze so you don't have the swarms of them when parked. And they have a hard time flying in the breeze when you are driving. The one time I spent in central Florida they were just horrific, not a breeze to be found there.Just yesterday I overheard some locals complaining about the heavy traffic and that the snowbirds seemed to be staying longer this year and have not left yet.One guy said just wait. Those Snowbird's will high tail it out of here as soon as the love bugs come out. :B

Geeze, so soon. I guess only good thing about them is they don't bite. Hate 'em!

They are in N/W Fla. (Holmes County area) we had a few splash on the windshield a couple of days ago. But it is the that time of year, guess it is time to oil the front of the truck.

The stink bugs are out in Maryland:( Yuk

Since DW & I will be heading to FL in the near future, what's the best way to clean them off the vehicles?

Non in Orlando, yet. Few years ago the north wall of our house was covered with them but not the other sides.

I drove from Tampa to Sarasota along I-75 today and had a few love bugs upon the windshield.

Usually a couple good coats of wax and a daily wash work for getting the bugs off.

OP Here......Glad to report that I made it out of Florida without any Love Bugs. The ones I saw in the shopping center in the Villiages must have been just local.

Wet the area covered by the dead love bugs then take a wet Dryer Sheet and GENTLY rub over the love bugs.They come off very easy. Then wash as usual. The dryer sheet wont harm the surface, can't say anything about the acid from the bugs....

I think a couple fresh coats of wax would help a lot. Should make them come off much easier at the end of the day. And maybe add a layer of protection.

Last year I waited until the next day to clean the love bugs off of the front cap of my 5'er. Big Mistake! They dried and hardened, and trying to get them off, basically messed-up the gel coat. Now I can't get that bright shine back.

I worked at a car wash in west/central Florida back in the late 80's when I was in high school. I can't tell you how many brand new cars would come in with two weeks worth of love bugs plastered on them. I had many get angry when they would pick up their cars with the front paint pitted from the acid from the love bugs. When I get them on my cars I try to get them removed as soon as possible.
