Fly or Drive?: 2500 miles from NW to Carolina's in June

Plan to explore the Carolina's in June for several weeks++ as a potential retirement destination. About 10 towns to check out. Would you:

1. Drive RV there and fly DW to meet me. (Avoids her dealing with ~5 days travel prior to being in a small RV in the southern summer).

2. Both Fly and Rent car/hotels; since Southeast will be to hot/humid to enjoy the RV.

I enjoy the flexibility of the RV: less planning, less dependance on restaurants, known sleeping accommodations, etc. However it is a long drive, and we might(?) be better off in hotels if it will be too hot/humid. Cost is not a big factor, a well executed exploration and decision is.

Insights?

  • I would drive and enjoy the freedom and solitude. No brainer here.
  • I am from the Midwest and I drove 1,900 miles in June from the south back home north ONCE.

I will never drive in my MH during the hot summer months in the south. If you have never experienced hot in the south trust me it is just plain awful to RV in and hard on the MH. Just saying. JMHO.

I also had my dogs with me which made it more of a problem but after all was said and done I don't put the MH in drive in the south after May. :W
