Maybe the owner doesn't know everything, but you'd think he'd be aware of something this large. I mean they were giving classes on how to cheat the trucking companies without being caught. If he doesn't know what's going on why is he being paid the big bucks?
Why?
Heck, the President of the US does not know anything about anything! He says he learns about everything from watching the news on TV just like us! So, why would you expect the CEO to know all? - WeBeFulltimersExplorer

The big boys always alledge ignorance and innocence until they are caught. Most are overpaid crooks with a golden parachute. The board of directors also know what is going on. They hired the crook in the first place, to do what they want done.
It also doesn't hurt to have a relative in office either...if you know what I mean. - wbwoodExplorer

You know this has no affect on RV owners at all. This whole suit was by large fleet truck companies and PFJ. As an RV owner, I always get my GS discount when I use my RV Plus card at the pump. I believe these large companies had contracted for certain discounts for their fleets and through various means they were overcharged. Many PFJ people lost their jobs over this (the ones that were making the bad deals or cheating on the contracts)but it also does not affect the little guy employees.
IMO the whole thing is blown way out of proportion for the RV owner.
So you would willing do business with a company that is known to cheat on some of it's customers. Chris
So you don't do any business with any company that is has been known to cheat at some time or another? You sure? I highly doubt it.
Something was being done that was wrong. It was discovered, corrected and penalties are being paid. It's very possible that the owner did not know that any of this is going on. Anyone that has ever supervised a group of people (especially at different locations) can attest that they do not know what their employees are doing all the time. You are lucky if you know 5% of the time. You can't watch every single one of them all the time. You have to trust that they are properly trained and trust that they do the right thing. Unless you catch them doing something wrong in the act, then the only way you will know something is wrong is when someone speaks up about it. Just as people complain about some of the CW stores. Marcus can only hope that the people he has hired (and the ones they have hired, and so on down the ladder) do what they should be doing and doing what they are doing to the best interest of camping world and Marcus. Do they all do that? No! Of course not. The only way to get anything done the right way is to do it yourself. The bigger you get, the bigger chance of problems you will have. - jimjrExplorer

The president of the United States (Truman) said it best: The Buck Stops Here and he was in charge of everything.
And in this case the owners have stepped up and taken responsibility for correcting the situation and making the affected customers whole, even before there was a settlement in place.
