Ford C-Max Toad?

Thinking about one of these. Was thinking about the plugin version but they are no longer available. If you have a plug in or a regular hybrid as a toad, what is your experience? Would you make the same decision again?
  • Over the pas couple years I have spoken to a couple of people who were quite pleased with their choice of Ford C-Max for a toad. On various RV forums I have read of even more who had no complaints.
  • Our 08 Ford Escape Hybrid has been a great toad, and a good car. They quit making it about 2012 or so, but if it was still made I'd get another one. As is I'll keep using the 08 till the wheels fall off. From all I've heard the C-Max is equally good, but I've had no experience.
  • I have a 2013 C-Max Hybrid, great car. Gets 45MPG lifetime. There are lots of used ones out there Hybrid or Energi. If you get one get 2016 or later as they have Sync 3. Lots of leg/head room for tall folks.
  • We towed a 2013 CMax for almost four years before we sold the CMax with the RV. It towed fine but you must have a charge line between the RV and CMax to keep the battery charged when towing. We had Blue Ox Patriot brake box. That particular box has settings specific to hybrids. We found the car to be fine for shorter trips but found it too small on long trips. The car had close to 100,000 total miles when sold and had averaged about 41 mpg. It was reliable and relatively trouble free.
