Ford Eco-Boost Towing

currently towing a 5800 lb. TT, (dry wt.) with a 2012 3.5 eco-boost. tong wt. of camper 550. est. another 4-600 additional lb.s when fulled loaded. no problems pulling, climbing hills etc. very happy. put new Michelin E rated tires on this spring.

considering a new TT 6600 lb. dry wt. 800 lb tong wt. while well within the range of the truck, wondering if anyone is towing this much with the eco-boost or a 1/2 ton. any thoughts appreciated.......steve
  • You likely won't notice much difference if the new trailer has roughly the same frontal area as the old one.

Only 400-600lbs of stuff, though? You travel light! Bet if you weighed it all up you'd be surprised at how low your estimate is.
  • As long as you don't exceed the GVW limit of your truck and have a good weight distribution hitch, you will be good with what you are considering.
  • Yes...Tows great!Tongue weight is 880 lbs. Very stable going down the road.
  • Well Steve, the E rated tires will help with the heavier trailer. You may have 1,000 lbs of tongue weight, when loaded to camp with that new trailer. I think the truck will pull it without issue, but you will have to watch your payload. With the tongue weight, you may only have 500 lbs left for everyone/everything else in the truck.

What does the yellow/white tire loading sticker on the door show for payload?

I am sure there are others towing a similar size trailer with the Eco-boost 150. The newer F150s are great tow vehicles, but with the right tow package, some are better than others.
