I have the CheapHeat and have been using it every night as it gets cold in the PalmSprings area at night lately. Works great! Per digital readout it is drawing 22amps on each leg. Have not touched the propane tanks for months. Cook with propane and when doing back to back showers we turn on the propane water heater.

No CHEAP potentially dangerous little heaters to deal with. Set the T Stat and enjoy.

Well worth the investment.

thanks, the plug was real loose. I pulled out the outlet, not like any plug I have seen. will replace with a new 20 amp plug. trying how to get a box in the shallow wall. could I just connect wires and wrap well with electrical tape??
also will only run at 750 watt. only has 14 gauge wire.

Hi,

Replace the outlet with a 20 amp type. I do tend to run electric heaters that don't do 1500 watts, but I've also added two additional shore power cords.

There was a poor connection at the plug, which could be caused by any number of things: dirt/scorching of the plug prongs, similar on the mating outlet connectors, a loose outlet, or poor connections to the wires in either the outlet or the heater plug. Perhaps the most common are the loose outlet and the damaged/dirty plug prongs.

I make it a habit of checking the plug on my electric heater after turning it on for a minute or two in order to be sure it's not heating up. A couple of the outlets in my RV are on the looser side.

Exactly why I don't like electric space heaters, YES only run on on Low settings. We have a electric Mattress pad, and a small electric blank for our two dogs, Programmable T-stat sets back at night.
Looking into the Cheap heat option that allows using electric for all heat. That said with the current cost of propane I don't mind running the furnace.

We use an electric blanket at night and do not need much more in the way of heat if the temperature is in the 20s or 30s. And we sleep close together. The heat is turned up before we get out of bed in the morning.

I turned on my little electric heater and came back in 3 hrs. the end of plug was very hot. pulled it out and touched prongs, to hot to hold. the outlet was also very warm. I had it on high setting, 1500 I do not think I could run this all night on high, maybe on low 750. any suggestions.

Down to the high 20's we mostly use electric (assumes we are at a campsite that includes electricity.

If it gets colder than that, we make sure the furnace is kicking on periodically as it leaks (intentionally) a little head into the underbelly keeping the water lines from freezing.

When it gets really cold, we use both and have also run a 100w bulb in the underbelly near the water pump.
