I don't know what a "MJ coupler" is but when I replaced my grey water valve I also did not have any "give" in the pipe, but I cut the pipe several inches from the valve to get some clearance to work and put the pipe back together with a Fernco rubber fitting which is a rubber repair coupling and it grips the pipe with hose clamps that go around the ends of the rubber coupling. I picked mine up at Homo Depot for a couple of bucks. And if you need to work on that valve again the Fernco comes apart easily.
I think this is my best route. I've used these on the stick and brick when running my sewage line to the rv pad. Thanks for correcting my brain fart.
