Honda generators (or anyone else's) aren't made for just the RV industry ... if one chooses to add an aftermarket surge protector or EMS to their RV and it interprets a floating neutral in the input source as an error that's hardly Honda's responsibility. Regardless, Honda does make it clear that the ground and neutral are not bonded ... as an example Page 38 of the Honda EU2000i Owner's Manual -
"The generator has a system ground that connects the generator frame components to the ground terminals in the AC output receptacles. The system ground is not connected to the AC neutral wire."
In addition, the wiring schematic for this genset on Page 73 of the manual clearly shows the ground and neutral are not connected together.
Seems pretty clear to me ... all one has to do is read the manual. ;)
