Generator Use

Appreciate folks answering this question. I'm relieved that the "free" sights are so generous with their property.

On a side note, after looking at motor homes advertised for purchase in Florida where I live, I'm truly surprised that quite a few of them do not have on board generators. Who buys a MH with no generator? Waiting until you get to a park to run your AC and other appliances it would seem defeats the purpose of a MH which is to be independent.

You obviously don't live in Florida or Arizona. :W

Situtional. Some lots the noise from other activity is so loud I can't even hear my own Generator.. In those lots no problems.

Other lots you can hear crickets.. I like to observe quite hours there.

I saw an article once that was about over nighting at wally world and it stated do not put out chair, the awning, the slides and no generators. but that was their opinion. I have only stayed in one wally world ever and it was cool enough to not need a gen set. I would be worried someone might try to walk off with it more than offending someone while using it.

My position exactly.

Spending all the money that us RV'ers do to have fully self-contained rigs ... the result should be options and flexibility for us.

As far as the over-nighting convenience of Walmart parking lots or truck stops is concerned, if the temperature and humidity means running our genny and A/C most/all of the night we merely park where the Walmart trucks or big rig trucks are parked with their generators running.

In hot weather we like to be able to still eat lunch in our rig, shop a few minutes while leaving the dog in the rig, take a nap in our rig, or sleep in our rig. We don't like to be limited by what season we're in or at what altitude we're at. A generator is priceless in meeting all situations ... built-in being the best setup.

We respectfully follow generators usage rules to the tee wherever we are, since they are none in place at the locations the OP stated we use our onboard genny as we deem necessary. Although it is rare for us to be in this particular circumstance, it is a non-issue as most understand that overnighting in such places is one where noise control goes unabated.

I've spent a few nights in Walmarts where others were running a generator. Every time I've encountered one, it was a quiet inverter unit like the Honda EU or comparable. Didn't bother us.
