We are talking about 5600 BTUs right? Typical RV AC units are 13500 BTU or 15000 BTU (13.5k , 15k).
The larger units use a 13.5 to 15K AC unit. Some of the smaller units do use smaller A/C units,
Ken - mboppExplorer5600BTU? Maybe it's a residential window unit.
- Mont_G_JExplorerA 5600 BTU AC current draw is 4 to 6 amps.
The output capability of a 2000 watt generator is about 16.4 amps.
So you will have power to spare. - RJCorazzaExplorerWe are talking about 5600 BTUs right? Typical RV AC units are 13500 BTU or 15000 BTU (13.5k , 15k).
- wa8yxmExplorer III5,600 btu.. Likely not.. 13.500-1500, depends on the age of the A/C, and how recently it was serviced and a few other things like what else is always on (Converter and state of battery charge) but a 5600 BTU, most likely not.
Check the ID label on the air conditioner and find out how much power it takes, Look for a Volt-Amps rating cause that is what the genny has to push.
AND starting power can be way way higher than what's on the label. But Im guessing you need closer to 5KW if not more for that unit. - bob_b1ExplorerYes, even some 1000-watt generators have been able to power a 5600 BTU window unit.
- RJCorazzaExplorerA 2000w genset will easily power a 5600 btu AC unit. Are you sure it's 5600? Seems like a real small unit.
- mcfayExplorerThanks, It's and IX2000, a newer one.
