I suspect that drilling the holes out would be quite dangerous. I believe the number of holes and size of the holes are designed to exactly offset the pressure of the gas coming from the regulator. Tinkering with that may cause the gas pressure to be too low and there may be a risk that flame could flow back down the hose, which would be really really bad :(
