Just like a cruise on a cruise ship, it's a once in a lifetime experience, something to give you bragging rights at the exclusive closed membership club they belong to.
Or, like a cruise, the "average" customer might have saved up several years to make a really special vacation experience.
You'd perhaps be surprised at how inexpensive cruising can be!
If you wander in to a travel agent and say sign me up for the Carribean or something, then you're going to really pay for it.
My ex was a travel agent before we married. Her love of travel always stayed with her through our time together.
She was an absolute genius at finding unbelievable deals on cruises. We cruised 7 times together and we are by no means well off. She would search a pile of places and get screaming deals for all kinds of exotic cruises. Couple grand and we were off to all over the south Pacific for a week, 10 days, 2 weeks.
Only thing is we had to get to Florida to leave, but she was just amazing at getting cheap flights too.
We cruised on the Love Boat for our honeymoon for very cheap.
