Golf carts?

God invented golf carts for just that situation

Golf carts have been around since the '50's. Although I doubt they were used in CG's back then, I also don't think the average CG was big enough to need one back then.

Our CG is pretty big with over 450 sites. It would take me 25 min to walk to the camp store and back. I'm getting old, and when its hot and humid out the last thing I want to do is walk to the store and back.

I think the cart safer than taking the truck... Kids are running around on their bikes and warp speed not paying attention and it's tuff to see a kid on the passenger side of the truck. The cart is small and wide open, and I can see the little brats much easer.

Unlike the smaller parks they would load their laundry in the truck and go to the Laundromat or the camp store… depending on where you are in the park it could be up to a 8 mile round trip or a mile or two one way to the pool… many of the kids ride their bikes to get from camp to the places they need to be, but have never seen a kid that didn’t love riding in the golf cart for any reason…

In smaller parks I guess they become less necessary but don’t lose the utility worthiness because of size at all... So may seem less practical to someone without one…
in any size park they don’t lose the fun factor and is in itself enough reason to make them popular…

For many parks they can keep the cost of road maintenance and the need for parking facilities to a minimum…

They also bring added responsibility to the Camper and the CG, especially in our overly liturgists society of today… our rules of use have been tightened dramatically, but not so much from bad behavior, mostly because of insurance requirements and cost…

Don't forget to hook up your watermelon cooler to the golf cart too!

You don't want to drive down 2 sites for a BBQ and show up with a warm watermelon now do you?

I think they are a great tool. Don't own or rent one.
July 4th at Lakewood CG in myrtle beach it was fun to watch the carts on the main strip cruising. One of our neighbor campers took my boys riding several times. Now they want me to get one.
Sorry guys. Not happening.
Personally I like my bike.

Lakewood has done a decent job reigning in the crazy cart drivers. A few slip thru. I do expect someone to get run over by one some day. Just hope it's not my family.

As bad as you think it may be, just imagine that many more cars in the parking lots… at our CG we would need many so many more parking spaces if we didn’t use carts… I couldn’t imagine having to jump into a hot car to go to the Laundromat, or the store every time… golf carts are the best suited vehicles for towing the blue boy to the dump station…

For us they are a tool to enhance the experience, I n my case it would be a 4 mile walk to the back lake, 2 miles to the club house pool and a mile to the other pool… for others it would be 4+ miles to the store… so even a tool can be fun to use…

We went to Willow Tree this past weekend. Since we sold our golf cart last year, we thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Wow were we wrong. We constantly mentioned how much we wish we had it. Cruising around the campground, riding around the pond, and just being able to go to the pool and toting all our stuff easily.

We have a Disney trip planned for November. We will NOT be going without a golf cart. I promise you that. :)

If you really want an overload drive thru the The Villages in Florida, oh wait you don't even have to drive 'thru' the Villages because they drive them ALL over. It takes driving defensively IN A CAR' to a whole new level. Never did find a parking spot for my tiny Tracker toad either.

There are more golf carts in the Publix parking lot than cars. And if you think there are too many disabled spots at the front of a store......try '4 rows' designated for golf carts at the Walmart.:E
