I saw a deal on TV some outfit makes a kit, including all electronics, to fit a Allison transmission to any Ford or Dodge.

Yes there have been adapter kits and stand alone TCM available for a while. Expensive endeavor though.
Especially considering virtually every Dmax iteration is comparable or better than the other 2 except in small circles, like long haul hot shot drivers. Cummins gets the nod for engine life there.....theoretically.
