Good Sam credit card fails me

So normally I am a pretty good natured person and try not to let things get to me. I understand that things can happen but for me this one takes the cake. I have the Comenity Bank issued Good Sam card that I have tied to some automatic payments such as prescription renewals. So when I get a call from the pharmacy and they say the card would not work I did not get too excited about it. I gave them another card to use and then called the CC company. This was on the 23rd of March. The service rep stated that the account was closed on the 17th of March. So I asked how that happened. After a short wait they got back on the line and said it was closed for security reasons. OK I understand that, but how come I was not notified. They were sorry but did not know why, but I should be getting a follow up letter in the mail. On the 26th the letter came and basically stated the same thing that for security reasons the account was closed but it was not because of any security breach on their part and that I would be getting a new card in the mail. Why couldn't the new card come with the letter??? So now I have other automatic payments that are not being made for the same reason. So here we are now the 6th of April and I get an e-mail asking me to review account activity and if I haven't done so yet I should activate my new card which of course I still do not have. Another phone call today and now they tell me that the card was mailed on the 28th of March and would take 7 to 10 business days to get to me so I should be seeing it soon. Sorry but not even the post office is that screwed up. Everyone keeps telling me they are sorry but I'm afraid that only goes so far. Hopefully I will see it soon but as of tomorrow it will have been 3 weeks to receive a new card. Totally unacceptable in anyone's world.
Thanks for letting me vent.
  • ^^^^ That sounds like the movie Vacation when CC could not get his credit cards replaced so he rips off the cash register for some cash!
  • My daughter was undergoing cancer surgery in another city and we were staying in town with her. Our credit card was cancelled and we had to move out of the hotel and had no money at all to eat on. It turned out that my niece had stolen the numbers and was going nuts with it buying all her friends and family members gifts.

Two years ago someone in Spain got ahold of the credit card numbers and charged a 700 dollar set of tires on it. We were travelling out west at the time and the credit union cancelled the card. It left me stranded until the credit card company sent me a new card.

We had the same problems with automatic payments. Sometimes it's hard to remember all the payments that are coming out. Some only come out once a year and you don't remember them until you loose your services.
  • My Pentagon Federal card was compromised, and they closed that account and opened another automatically, It was almost seamless for me. They did everything themselves including changing the auto charge accounts. I did noting but activate the new card.

As a previous poster already stated, anything with Good Sam or Camping World on it will be screwed up
  • It's not just that bank my friend.... We were on vacation in FL a few weeks ago and our 2nd day there, my CC got hacked and 30 bogus foreign transactions showed up on it in about 20min totaling $1800. Bank of America issued the card and I have alerts sent to my phone, so I jumped on and called them immediately. They "claimed" they were just about to call me as well.

Anyway, I explained that I was on vacation and needed the card replaced ASAP (even though I do have a backup card). They closed the account and assured me I would receive a new card at the hotel the next day. This was on Monday, so the card was to deliver on Tuesday.

Tuesday --- NADA. Called BoA. They claim I missed the cutoff time for next day delivery, so it would be the following day....

Wednesday arrives --- UPS comes and goes at the hotel. NADA again. Back I go on the phone. I explain to the rep, who apologizes up and down for the mix-up, but tells me the cards did go out, but by first class mail!!! I could expect them in 5-7 business days. So, I explained that I will be on my way home to MASS in 2 business days! So those cards were now also cancelled and I have to ask the hotel to destroy them when they get them the following week! More apologies and an offer of a $50 credit on my account. AND, now I'm told there is no overnight service, but only 1-2 days....... I told them to send it to my home address instead, as it was cutting it too close to have them to me in FL on Friday, the day before we were to fly home.

The following TUESDAY, 9 days after the problem began, the new cards finally showed up at home in MASS. Interestingly enough, 2 days later, the cards supposedly sent to the hotel by regular mail ALSO showed up in MASS! What a comedy of errors and incompetence........
  • Hello Mr. Murphy,
I apologize for the inconvenience you've encountered with the Good Sam Camping World Visa card. I would like to see what I can do to assist you and determine what occurred with your account. Please send me a private message with your contact information and I will research with Comenity.

    Sincerely,
    Robyn Barnes
