That's why I carry two (different financial institutions') credit cards at all times!
With two cards, I can pretty much be assured of being able to fill up our RV's 55 gallon tank anywhere, anytime, with no hassles. My first choice is always the card that gives me 5% (percent - not cents) off on all fuel purchases. The 2nd card is used for backup, but only gives the standard 1% credit on all fuel purchaes.
Keeping life as hassle-free as possible is the name of the game.
