Good Sam GPS & Dock

I am using the GS GPS and thought it had died. But, it seems okay. I've started using the trip planner and dock software to export to the gps. The trip that I've planned - highways, no tolls, etc - a custom route, is changed to whatever the gps feels is correct. I can choose no tolls in the planner AND in the gps, but the gps still does it's own thing. I contacted RM twice, and get the apparent canned response

I apologize, but the routing of the trip is determined and calculated by the software itself, not by the user. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to modify the routes chosen to the destination points.

. So what good is the trip planner or the gps if I waste my time on the trip planner?

Anyone else have similar problem, or solution?
