Good sam roadside assistance

I have had GS road service for 10 years. Used it twice, both tire related. First was on I-55 with a blow out. Second parked on a hill with flat tire. Both were in areas where I did not want to be jacking the vehicle up. Just a heads up for everyone,,,,,,,,,, I was told by a Mississippi Highway patrol officer that if I were to ever break down along a road, call 911 and report. He says that they would prefer to park behind a disabled vehicle with their blue lights flashing than clear up a accident scene. They will stay with you while the tow truck driver does his thing or you change a tire yourself.

We've had Good Sam for about 14 years, used them twice. Blowout on an inside dual on my former gas MH; cargo van would not start while vacationing at my son's residence in the NE Georgia mountains. Excellent service both times.

Have ERS as 'insurance' for a few years...hope we don't have to use them...but will if we need them.

I highly recommend Good Sam Road service. I have been with them close to 30 years and have had to use them twice. You are broke down in a strange place, don't know who to call or who to repair your problem. You call a 1-800 number. They send a wrecker and have a place lined up to repair your problem. Worth the money. In 2011 my transmission went out in my truck on a trip with the 5th wheel behind it. The wrecker hooked on to my truck with the 5th wheel still connected. Took me to the campground that I had reservations at. I set up the 5th wheel. Then the wrecker took me and my truck to the garage that was going to repair the transmission. Then the wrecker driver took me to the rental car place that I had contacted for me to get a rent car. All this cost me nothing.
So if you travel you can't beat Good Sam Road Service

We have had Good Sam's ERS for 5 years and have been lucky and only needed them once. It paid for itself when they had to call out a tow truck that they use to tow 18 wheelers with. I was backing into a friends yard and sunk up to the front axles even though I had looked the area over to make sure it would hold the weight.

The greatest service of all.

I have had GS for several years, and I remember using it three times. Once for a lock out with our toad, once here in Florida, for a tire blow out and then when I got stuck on a soft road shoulder in British Columbia. We were very satisfied with each service call.

The key appears to be knowing what your contact calls for, on your part as well as GS's part. In general most problems occur when the contract isn't followed. Whoever makes the call, will normally be the one that pays for the tow or service. There are a few exceptions to this, but know what these are before you call anyone but your road service company that wrote your contract. Don't assume anything about your coverage. Call GS and discuss any questions you might have, before you need help.

A year or so back, one of the forum members was very upset that their RV had burned, totaled, in a parking lot. She felt very strongly that GS should tow their burned to the ground RV and shuld pay for their motel and meals. She mentioned the GS plan they had and it was the same that I had. So I got out my policy and it clearly stated that motels and meals were only for a vehicle accident involving another vehicle. The tow was to the nearest repair facility. Their RV wasn't going to be repaired by anyone as it was toast and headed to a junk yard to be crushed and melted into something new.

I think they finally figured out that their RV policy was what they needed to file a claim against, not their road service plan.

I will be renewing my GS Road plan in the next few weeks, for another year.

Dont leave home without it !! We use coachnet but i guess Good Sam is ok too,

Unfortunately have had to use them 4-5 times over our 16 years of part time rv'ing. Always did a great job; particularly last fall when we had to have the whole rig towed down 12 miles out of the mountains of AZ. Now, THAT was an experience!

I have not had any experience with Good Sam as I got Coach Net for a year when I purchased the Winnebago. I've used them twice with excellent results. I like that I can be talking with an experienced RV Technician which apparently has access to the maintenance manuals for my coach within a few minutes of calling. He knew enough about my rig to tell me exactly were to look and what to look for when I blew a hydraulic line. He said they were sending a tow truck to get me to the nearest certified shop (about 80 miles away). 15 min later the biggest tow truck I'd ever seen pulls up, disconnects my drive shaft, and safely takes the RV to the service station. I called the station to say we were coming and they said CoachNet had already contacted them and they would stay open waiting for my arrival. My incremental cost was $0.00 for all that and my premiums did not increase right after that.

I like the idea of talking with an RV Tech quickly so I've kept renewing with CoachNet for 9 years.
