Some 5th wheel manufacturers will void their warranty if you use a gooseneck adapter. So that tells you their position on it. But many people do use the adapters with no apparent problem. So it becomes a personal decision.
Reese does make the Goosebox adapter that supposedly is acceptable to some manufacturers as it has an air bag and shock absorbers. But it is more expensive.
