Gooseneck Question

I know that this is primarily an RV forum, but I am hoping that someone can help me out here. I just bought a 04 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the HD towing package. (So 2500 frame and no full floating axle, but HD springs under it)

Anyways, the truck had a gooseneck in it before I got it. My gooseneck needs are low as we normally use my dad's 2012 GMC 2500HD for the big loads, but it would be nice to be able to have another vehicle that could hook on to our gooseneck.

They took the ball out of the truck, but they left all of the framing. I thought this was pretty sweet as I wouldn't need to purchase an install package as well, but here is the problem. There are no stickers left on the rails so I have no idea what brand the goose was. I crawled underneath there tonight and measured in between the rails and it measures out to be 7.75 inches. Does anyone know what brand would fit in this frame? Finding specs like width and length are hard to find. I suppose they just want you to buy their install kits also.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks!

  • Brisk, I think you nailed it. I just went to their site, did a search, and it appears like GNRK1059 looks EXACTLY like my setup.

I used to have a one ton dually that had the B&W in it and I did love it. But my dad also had a draw tight flip over in his old truck and that was fine also.

I will talk to B & W and see if you can get just the hitch or if you have to get the entire install kit.

Thanks again Brisk and fj12 for the responses.
  • Correct on the rattle can. Evidently people are more inclined to buy a 9 year old vehicle if the dealer paints over the rusty frame. They even painted over the rust on the receiver hitch. The paint is what covered the sticker that I did find, but can't read now that there is paint on it. The drivers side picture, you can see where the sticker is located.

It could be hodge-podge stuff, but if it is, it is one of the cleaner hodge-podges I have seen. Usually stuff people make up have edges that you can tell were cut with an oxy-acetylene torch and then never cleaned up. This has rounded edges on the corners, it just looks nicer then something found out back in the long grass that they cut up and made it work.
  • It was given a crappy rattle can paint job at some point. The light blue color on the crossmembers is what gave it away. That and it is very similar to the one on my 2500HD
  • IMO that doesn't look like the quality I'd expect from a B&W product. Everything on my B&W hitch looks professionally done, that looks cobbled together. IMO anyway.
  • It looks like a B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch. Hands down one of the best (if not THE best) Goose hitches around. I have one in my truck and won't use any other brand. You are missing the center section, the actual gooseneck plate with the ball and chain loops. Here is the LINK to their website. Call them up and they will send you the parts you need. However it may be cheaper/easier to just buy a whole new hitch.

And this is looking up, towards the cab of the truck

  • Post up some pictures of the hitch assembly. Maybe we can tell from them.
