I had to read that several times before I hit "QUOTE".. You are right.
There are 3 classes of waste water
Black: ALWAYS has to be put in a proper sewer system may not legally be dumped on the ground anywhere that I am aware of.
GRAY (includes the kitchen sink) SOME places you can ground dump, Most you can not
If I decide to dump wash water on the ground I like to do it "Fresh" though (not hold it more than a few minutes) And I only do it in places I know it's legal.
WASH (Bathroom lavs and shower, Washing machine, NOT The kitchen sink)
Some areas you may not dump on the ground but of the 3 classes this is the one LEAST likely to be restricted.
As it happens, my RV has 3 tanks, one each.
