Great Escapes

Keep getting ads for the Great Escapes RV camping program. Just wondering if you can really get 50% off at most campgrounds or is this just another fly by nite company that won't be around long.
Anyone here signed up yet?

Google is your friend - so, Google:

Great Escapes Camping (or Vacation) Club.

BTW - *NOT* to be confused with the - Escapees RV Club

(IMO) - "Great Escapes" is *NOT* your friend..:(

  • Do a google search for Great Escapes Travel Club scam.

I have only heard huge scam horror stories about this club.

In some instances you pay and all you get is a pdf file of CG's they have simply just ripped off google. Or you get to the CG and most have never even heard of the club and have never provided their CG info to them, etc etc. Just saying do a search first on this one.
  • I've never used great escapes but do have passport America. There is fairly frequently a campground along the route that accepts it but like others said there are often restrictions. Another quirp is some of the campgrounds will put you in less than their best sites. It can be really nice but I won't drive more than 4 or 5 miles out of the way to use it. It's also a good idea to call ahead to see if they still honor it.
  • There are a number of posts on irv2.com and you'll want to avoid this offer.
  • Two stays at a park per year would pay for the membership. Surely, you could find two that you could use without driving out of your way.
  • For any of the RV camping programs I would closely check where their parks are located. You may find the only participating park in the area you want to visit is 50 miles away......can sure detract from the nightly savings.
  • Thanks
I have passport America and like you say read the fine print. I think this is similar but, they say no restrictions on when or how long you can stay. Its $67 for 2 years and a money back guarantee before 90 days.
Think I will wait and get some more input.

  • Never heard of it but it sounds similar to Passport America which is very popular and has been around a long time.

Yes, you'll get 50% off but you need to read carefully because it can have day restrictions or how long you can stay at that price.

We used Passport America as a fill-in as we traveled and it worked very well. It's cheap enough per year membership and with just a couple stays you have paid off the cost.

If you're considering something like this I'd go with Passport America who is a stable company.
