- farmer_s_daughtExplorer14. I have two doors on my TT; so why do I have two different keys for them??? I had to label them F & B (front and back).
15. Why can't they make the cushions on the banquette and couch comfortable? - myredracerExplorer IISeasoned, um, I mean cynical RV-er here. RV-ing has issues that are "unique" to RVs:
They put "stabilizer" jacks on travel trailers. Too funny. Hahahaha.... :B Then you discover you need to install stabilizer struts for your "stabilizer" jacks. Pffft... :M
Everyone gets an "outdoor shower" as standard equip. now. Tried ours once and before I knew it, the cops showed up and I got charged with indecent exposure. :o
We have one of those specially designed bumpers on our TT for storing sewer hoses. Way cool. Wonder how much extra we paid for that?
ST tires. 'Nuf said. At least it makes for great discussion on forums.
Why do 50 amp RVs have to use 50-30 amp adapters in CGs so much?
Low voltage?? Open ground?? Open neutral?? Hot skin?? What the heck is that all about?
Peeling decals. Water leakage from failed exterior caulking (even on almost new units). Rusting frame due to salt on the roads from delivery in the winter. Cr*p WFCO converter/chargers. Incompetent RV techs and dealers. When something breaks, the dealer and/or factory redirects you to a 3rd party supplier to duke it out with.
I could go on, but I gotta go and do some re-caulking on our TT while there's still some nice weather left. :R - Playtime_IIExplorer13. Don't worry, you can pull just about anything.
13a. Just ask the salesperson, they are the expert.
13b. The vehicle spec says so (I only travel alone, I am only 150lbs, I don't carry any cargo in the truck, and I pull the TT empty). - covered_wagonExplorerThe backward water heater switch.....in the off position and it's actually on. In the on position it's actually off.
- CrabbypattyExplorerThey must use midgets when designing bathrooms.....(no offense just really non typical sized homosapiens)

I'll start:
1. 50 plus years on, and black and gray tank level indicators don't work.
2. Why you would start this thread.......:S
*or maybe why it's not in the ATC forum with song title games, etc.

Disc Brakes.
Disc brakes have been installed as standard equipment on just about all cars and trucks for the last 30 years or more, (Even my 1971 Honda motorcycle had one) yet you still can't find them on current trailer/fiver offerings (I'm sure there are probably a couple exceptions). Disc brakes work better, have better fade resistance, run cooler, and have GOT to be simpler then these ridiculous electric gizmos that are used now. Maybe they didn't get the memo ?
i have wondered this as well.
Because drum brakes are "self-energizing".
Once you move the shoes to touch the drum, they start grabbing harder on their own.
For a trailer, you only need to supply enough power to energize the magnet, which attracts to the spinning drum. The spinning drum moves the magnet, which is attached to a lever that pushes the shoes against the drum. Then the shoes grab the drum harder through the "self-energizing" action.
Disc brakes need a lot of continuous pressure to force the pads against the rotor. I image that trailers with disc brakes have some sort of hydraulic pump to generate the pressure.
That is why many trucks with rear disc brakes have a small drum for the parking brake.
Steve - DrewEExplorer IIOne other one I've pondered from time to time: Why are class C RV builders unable to make a positively leak-proof front window on the cabover section, while Ford et al. can make a positively leak proof windshield on the front of the cab section?
- CdaddyExplorerA positive one. Why is camping coffee so much better than home or Starbucks
