I can't believe this thread has gone on for so long.
Obviously, it depends on where you are. If there is a camp host you ask them -- you don't do it without permission. In the boonies where there is no host and no one will be in your site for a week or more after you leave, it's probably ok IF you use a hose (don't dump on packed ground) AND depending on local conditions such as soil drainage characteristics, fly populations, etc.
For the poster who asked whether our answers predict our voting patterns: Heck yes, mine does. I vote for the candidates who are logical, considerate / compassionate towards others, and not afraid of nuance.
