Grey water dumping

Following on another post, we've definitely seen grey water dump pits in Georgia.

People need to stop with the high-and-mighty, self-righteous attitude about dumping grey water. There is a big difference in slowly dispersing your grey water vs. just dumping it all at once.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH DUMPING GREY WATER ON THE GROUND!!!!!!!!!!

If you have a septic tank at home, you're essentially doing the same thing...its just a few feet below ground. Heck, some CG's are even on a septic system. I was at a facility in rural MI a few years ago where ALL sewage was pumped into an unlined pond...legally.

Respect is paramount if you're close enough that your neighbor might catch a little foul odor. The reason why some places prohibit this practice is because it would be difficult to make sure that some people don't have their black tank valves slightly opened, or that some people just don't have the common sense or courtesy to know the difference.

Its grey water! Little soapy, maybe some bacon grease, but mainly WATER. Your cup of urine in 30 gallons of water means very little. Yes, we know that all wild animals seek out the sanitary deposit location in their local forest before dropping their excrement. It is absolutely ridiculous that people see the need to cry and moan about this issue. For pete's sake, its CAMPING. I'd hate to know what you think about me if I chose to walk over the edge of the woods to take a leak. Yeah, you take your little furball mutt for a walk and let them pee wherever they want, but NOOOOOOOOOOO, not a person!

Clearly, this is the best answer, with the most common sense applied! Just also be sure to check local regulations, to prevent creating problems for yourself, as well.

No more of a health hazard than the soapy water you rinse off your body in the shower (containing microbes that live on your skin).

Why not dump the black tank too then. If a dog gets to pee on a tree, why not dump the black by the tree.
The little bit of water from washing hands hurts nothing.

It depends on the state or locale you are in. You should check before assuming it is ok. Just for the record, gray water from showers contains fecal coliform bacteria that could lead to the spread of public health issues.

It's called camping respect for OTHER campers. The contents of the gray tank STINKS. It's not just soapy water it's all that goes down the sink during food preparation and washing the dishes with all the parts of food on it.

And if you are dumping grease down your sink? Well, that stuffs sticks and stays and goes rancid on the walls of your gray tank adding to the stink forever. It's not a septic tank, has no grease trap....it's an above ground HOLDING tank.

How would you like it if I dumped my entire gray tank drop by drop or all of it at once under my coach on a CG site and YOU and your family had to park in the same spot following me?

How would you like it if you were parked next to a camper that dumped their gray tank while you and your family were having a picnic outside and had to smell that stink?

I HAVE been parked next to an 'inconsiderate', 'think they don't have to follow the rules' camper. He dumped his gray tank the entire week of a sporting event. The stench was just awful.

That's like arguing if 12oz of light beer is okay, then 12oz of everclear is no different. It's about the concentration of the stuff in the water.

You conveniently cropped WTP's post which had agreed with what you've posted. Why would you do that?
