Happy Camper Tank Additive

When ever the subject of black tanks come up, someone always pipes in with using Happy Camper black tank additive for a solution to keep the tank and sensors operational. And....during the same conversation, someone else will pipe in with just using detergent and water softener.

I heard today that Happy Camper is just detergent and water softener mix together in one application.

Is anyone versed enough with Happy Camper to confirm or dispel this info?

    No chemicals used ever in forty plus years. If you are smelling something in your rig you have a leaking seal or vent shaft leak. This is my experience. Feel free to disagree. Perhaps if you live in a hot humid climate and can only dump once a month wel maybe. Not trying to pick a fight. Just my take .

    I dump every 3-4 weeks. I use happy camper in both grey and black tanks. Works good.
    Label does not indicate contents.

    According to the MSDS I found, Happy Camper is 100% soluble zinc. Link to MSDS for Happy Camper

    My camper sits on personal property with no place to dump. I empty my black tank once a month. Happy Camper works as advertised.

    But there is no need to use it if you dump each camp outing. just plenty of water

    Two months so far so good
    On the label says organic
    No ingredients are listed

    I buy RID-X RV at Wally World, but not for its intended purpose. I use it to deodorize the black tank. It has a very nice fragrance. It keeps my neighbors happy because I don't have "stinky tank" wafting from the black tank vent. Each 48oz bottle has 16 treatments. Used weekly, that's 4 months. If it helps break down waste in the tank then that's OK too.

    It works better than anything else we have tried and we have used the GEO method, and several other so-called best solutions.
