- mlts22Explorer IIOne thing I learned with nutsert tools, specifically the ones that make threaded female bolts for water bottles... put some Loctite Red on the surfaces that will be in contact with the metal where the nutserts are going into. The reason for this is that sometimes the nutsert will start spinning in its cavity, making removal of the bolt or screw impossible. Loctite Red, once cured, will stop that.

You don not need to look any farther than your bicycle to see these. That is how the water bottle cages are attached. - MrWizardModeratorYes put a nut where one does not exist
Replace sheet metal screws holding things together
By putting a nut in a hole of the rear piece
A good use I have found
Is placing a nut in a hole in fiberglass or sheet metal when replacing running lights, and use machine screw to hold the new light, instead of wood screws in fiberglass
For fiberglass..light due duty tool and aluminum nut inserts
The compression needed for the Steel Serts is too high and will crush the fiberglass - dodge_guyExplorer II

the vibrating multi tool i bought 8yrs ago, has seen a lot of use, several sets of replacement blades, still works great, my nutsert tool, large hand rivet tool for steel rivets, still good, i recently bought their on sale 10" cable cutter have used it twice, perfect for my use, wish i had these 40 years ago when i was puling wire 6 days a week as a construction electrician
had to settle for using my Line mans pliers or a hack saw, couldn't afford the price of a pair of GreenLee or kilen cable cutters for my tool pouch
What is a "nutsert" tool ??
The only thing I can guess is not safe to post on this site.
Very easy to find yourself -- nutsert tool
Yes, but, I thought maybe he would give a explanation and a example of how it is used. Personally, I have nothing better to do a lot of the time and enjoy doing just that sort of thing. I understand that maybe it is just me that way though.
By the way, by looking at the tool I see it then uses a nut set. By looking at them I'm thinking it's a way to put a light nut in a blind hole in a piece of tin or something like that..... Right??
I've never seen one before and didn't know they existed. Doesn't look like it would come in handy on the farm all that often. Probably while I've never seen one. More likely use in the auto and aircraft industries,, correct??
Or, do I have it all wrong ?
Auto manuf have used them for years! Large and small! - mich800ExplorerMost threads take detours after a couple pages. But a couple of these posts seem like they thought they were on a different forum or thread. Not even tangential to the conversation. From incoherent to Lake Wobegon stories. Although that was a play on the value of cheap (Harbor Freight) I guess.
- Mr_BeeboExplorerA buddy of mine liked expensive name brand sun glasses and would come to work bragging about spending x hundreds of dollars on a pair. One day his dad came by the shop to take us out for lunch and my buddy couldn't find his sunglasses. He had left them in a customer's vehicle and they were gone for good.
His dad reached across the dash of his old beater truck and sorted thru about a half dozen cheapies. "Here you go boy" and laughed. "He spends $300 for one pair of sunglasses and they are gone in 6 months. I spend $40 and end up with enough to last me forever." - RAS43Explorer III
