I am expecting delivery tomorrow for a Powerhorse 2000w inverter generator from Northern Tool. Rated at 52 db, $569 and free shipping. It has good reviews.
Northern tool is wrong about the 52 db.
Zero load is 56 db
Full load is 66 db
I misspelled the name... it's Powerhorse, not Powerhouse, and both Amazon and NT spec it at 52db. It's still equivalent to Honda/Yamaha and $400 less. Mine will almost never be at full load anyway. It's mostly just for when the solar panel doesn't get enough charge on the battery to run the slide and tongue jack when breaking camp. We don't use the microwave when camping, and if we need AC we will be parked where we have shore power (generator won't run the AC anyway).
I've never heard of Powerhorse, that is a good db rating. I see they are parallel ready which is a plus. - Searching_UtExplorerIf money is a driving factor, and you're looking at inverter generators I'd seriously consider the little Champion 2000. More often than not you can pick them up for $499, they have a proven track record of being reliable, with good customer support, and you can get parts for them if needed. Noise wise they're same as the Hondas. Just a possible option...

I know some people have gotten new 800 watt, two cycle generators when their old ones that were 1-2 years in age seized up.

- ValkyriebushExplorer III normally don't buy the after market warrenty sold buy HF. You might consider that
for some peace of mind? - Dave_H_MExplorer IIA word to wize about HF. :W
I have a 3" water pump and it works flawlessly.
Got a water system boost pump that works great.
My stick home bzck up is HF genny. It is loud and just keeps on honking.
Letter rip tader chip. - westendExplorerIf it's a dead heat between the WEN and the HF generator, I'd pick the WEN. If you buy the WEN from a distributor, warranty enforcement and service may be easier to obtain.
There are just a lot of horror stories about Harbor Freight motorized items. Their 2 cycle Predator, for instance, ships with bad plugs. If you want the machine to work, a plug replacement is necessary. At least that is what many reviewers are claiming. I don't buy anything complex from Harbor Freight. If the Harbor Freight generator only lasts for a short time, you really haven't saved a lot.
