- BumpyroadExplorerI thought "inverter" came into play here also. non inverter runs full throttle all the time?
bumpy - pbmazda32ExplorerIve got some good stuff from HF, and ive got some absolute junk from HF. i dont know anything about that genny other than seeing it in the store. didnt look bad, but, if i were to buy one, i'd get the extended warranty so they would keep replacing it. im not one for those warranties, but that may be a good use for one.
- OasisbobExplorerRun like the wind. Spend the extra cash and be happy. HF unit is louder. Have you read the reviews?
- ScottGNomadFinest generator money can buy.
- D_E_BishopExplorerAre you sure which one it was? There have been two models, the latest that I first heard about came out this fall. The original one was not CARB approved and noisier than the current model. I don't run mine all day so not a big thing. I also let campers next to me know that I will be topping off my batteries and it won't be long. Some of us have to do that. Then again I could do as Motor Home magazine suggested, run the chassis engine, it's fast than the converter charger off the Onan. Take your choice.

A post above camped next to one, there are youtube vids, and the OP can visit the tech forum and search predator. No need to sit here and wait.
So far no one who responded has had any experience with one just their opinions and prejudice, so keep trying maybe someone has a real answer for you.
If I'm expecting a decent quality quiet generator for 1/2 the price, I'd want a little more than 'he was happy with it.' For some, happy is when the wallet is happy. - D_E_BishopExplorerI didn't read all the threads or posts on PREDATOR but not much there, one guy who actually owns one and when he posted he was happy with it all, the others are giving their opinions just like here.
- D_E_BishopExplorerIn answer to your question, NO.
I am going to buy one even with a 66db rating vs Hondas 59db rating. My Onan is louder than either.
I haven't heard any real reviews so we just have to guess on reliability for now. And at <$500, it just might be a good deal. It's got a guarantee so buy it and run it for awhile, it may be reliable as all get out.

Very loud and annoying.
I was in a lovely site right on the wate on an island in the Thousand Islands and I had to listen to THAT for several hours a day. - RinconVTRExplorerYeah the Hondas and Yamaha's run at 60-65db but again we're talking half the cost and the OP wants experienced comments regarding the Harbor Freight unit.
I have not experienced the unit in question but I have a couple others from Harbor Freight (larger and louder) and they are shockingly good.
Would I used them for anything but occasional use? Nope.
At a campground? Sure, but I would not run it all night long unless there was significant distance from my neighbors.
