The biggest disadvantage to me of 2 stroke engines is the pollution -- they emit 5 - 10X more hydrocarbons than a small 4 stroke engine, and 20 - 30 times more than a car (due to the emissions control devices on the car).
Even if you don't care about adding to air pollution, if you're using it near others in a campground, they will care.
