I'm sure I'll get a few, "people like you are the problem"'s. Go ahead, ask me how that will effect me. :)
We have bumper stickers on both our truck and 5'er that say: 55 SAVES FUEL. Unless I have to pass someone going slower than that, I never go faster. The difference towing between 55 and 75, tested 6 ways to Sunday, is consistently 30% greater fuel consumption at 75. 30% may not make any difference to you - it does to us. Add in wear and tear, stopping distances, tire ratings etc. and it's a no-brainer for us.
Maybe because of the stickers or whatever else, but in nearly 14 years of fulltiming and a ton of miles, we've been "flipped off" maybe 2-3 times, and yes, I pay attention.
We try hard to be courteous. If we're on a 2 lane road with more than 2 vehicles behind, we pull over whenever possible. More frequently than not we get a friendly thank-you wave or a thumbs up from the passers. And yes, I know the difference between a thumb and a middle digit!
And to remain on topic: We recently passed from southern GA on 75 into FL and I'm tellin' ya, south of Macon, the GHP had someone pulled over an average of every 5 miles.
