Traffic Laws - Photo Enforced

Traffic Laws - Photo Enforced....we've all seen 'em. Those silent cameras pointing at us as we drive down many streets in mainstream America encouraging us to pay attention to our driving.

Well, a friend of mine was driving down one of the main streets in Mesa, Arizona and saw one of those signs. Since the speed limit was 45mph he slowed to 40mph as he passed the camera. SNAP! To his dismay, the camera flashed as he went by! He looked at his speedometer which register exactly 40mph. What the heck? he thought, so he went around the block. This time he cruised through at 30mph. BAM! as he passed the camera flashed again. Around the block he went. This time at 20mph. YEP! you guessed it - he got his picture taken again. Now he thought it was funny. So, around the block he went again. This time he passed at 20mph again but flipped off the camera. It didn't let him down...picture number four. One more time he thought. Around he went, only now he slowed to 15mph and simply smiled at the camera. BAM! it snapped again.....he smiled to himself and went home, had an adult beverage and related the events to his wife.

Three weeks later, my friend received five tickets in his mailbox....

All for not wearing his seatbelt....!!!!

    I lived in Germany for years and a co-worker was about to rotate back to the states. Germany has traffic enforcement cameras for stop light and speed infractions. The co-worker, knowing he was about to go back to the land of the round doorknobs. spent his last weekend setting off the cameras before he shipped his vehicle home. He did this while wearing a gorilla mask. Made for great laughs in the office when our command section got the tickets from the German authorities. He was out of the country and out of the command by then, and knew he would be beyond the reach of the authorities.

    Honestly I think everyone knew that, it was just a stupid joke that you knew would have a dumb outcome (i.e. in a bar setting it would have been a head bobbing.)

    Trying to make the best out of a dumb joke is my take on it.

    Pay for the POI Factory Red Light and Speed Cameras POI. They will warn you when you approach either and seem to be pretty accurate.

    Not true, those cameras in Pima county were used to ticket speeders. They were radar operated and triggered at 11 mph over posted speed limit. They have all been removed now because the only people making money was the 3rd party running the system. And, in AZ, you cannot get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt UNLESS you get stopped for something else and your not wearing one.


    RED LIGHT CAMERA---means red light camera:) NOT speed enforcement camera. Besides, you stated they were removed so that kind of makes my statement true. In Texas, the city gets part of the $75 ticket. The rest goes to the Red Light Camera Firm. It does NOT go on your record for insurance purposes. Doug
