There is one thing that has always puzzled me: why are folks always in such a darn hurry? We live in an age where we live longer, healthier, higher-quality lives than at any time in history, yet folks want to do everything faster, faster, faster. Patience is a lost art, and stress is often one of the biggest causes of serious illness and death in today's world. I was taught that, if you were going to do a job, you do it right, not just faster. Yes, I have heard the expression, "Time is money", but is it worth risking your life, and that of others, to get somewhere a few minutes earlier or, if you're involved in building critical devices, taking hazardous shortcuts that could ultimately cost money, and possibly lives? I worked for a defense contractor for 27 years and, for many years, the government mantra was "faster, better, cheaper". It never worked. Sorry for the vent.
