I'm not sure how it is states side (heading through the US in Sept. so I'm interested to know as well), but here in Alberta and BC as well, it specifically says "Recreational Vehicles Exempt" on the weigh station signs.
If Minnesota does require it. I may have to find a a way to avoid going through there on my way across the country, just to avoid the delays.
