So what makes a commercial vehicle? In NY any pick up weighing more than 5700# uvw must have commercial tags on it. This alone does not make you a commercial vehicle. To be commercial you must have a DOT or a NYSDOT#. I will pass by every scale unless the sign says all towed vehicle or all vehicles weighing xxx pounds. It is better to ask forgiveness than to put yourself into hot water.
