He wants/She wants

At a different life stage/price point.

Summer 2011 DH texted me one day with a picture of a camper. A camper? Why is he texting me pictures of a camper? We are tent people. "That's nice dear."

He says we should go look at it. He's cute and sweet so I humor him. "Yes dear. Let's look at it." (Insert wifely eye roll).

Nice gentleman meets and greets and offers to show us the camper. Other folks are also there checking it out. Older gentleman takes a (non creepy) liking to my kids. LOVES the idea of kids - in a 21' Fifth Wheel (Older gentleman is childless perhaps? ;) Other couple wants to live in it. Older gentleman not a fan of that. I felt less like I might be agreeing to purchase camper and more like he might, if we passed muster, be willing to let us adopt it. :)

I, the proud tent girl, step up into the c. 1995 Wilderness Fiver and Fall In Love. With the floor plan. With the colors (very neutral) and with the idea that it has an "upstairs" (Newbie, and strange, be kind).

Most important to me? The smell. This 16+ year old unit smelled new. Clean. Fresh.

My husband knows me well and while used may be our budget preference - he knows well that I could not abide anything that smelled, well, old. I don't want anything that smells like ashtray, armpit, or wet dog, laundry, or anything else. I swear old shag carpet itself gives off an odor. The lingering scent of disco and Aqua Velva perhaps?

My DH managed to impulse find - as if led by the Lord himself, the probably one in a million campers that would pass my sniff test.

Oh, and I also have an oven. The kids baked brownies one cozy, rainy afternoon. :)

To answer your question - we agreed on price ... and smell? ;)

No usable oven??? How does one fix pizza on movie night while camping?

The DW even used our oven once to bake me a blueberry pie for my birthday, which we ate while looking out the dinette window at Devil's Tower. Priceless moment ... only made possible by having and using an RV oven!

When we ordered our HTT, it didn't have an oven.. and I didn't want one. Instead it had a cabinet below the stove which was great.
At some point before delivery I discovered we were going to receive a colour scheme not like the one we saw (and presumably ordered), and YES I am the WIFE LOL. How I found out is a story in itself.
My call to the RV company was curt to say the least, but they were able to set us up with one of my colour choice, however it has an oven, which I use as storage.

Looked a Secretaries today Several nice antique and from the fifties types. I said I like this and she said I don't. Shesaid she liked that one and I said go for it and she said no.

When we purchased our Fiver, there were two rigs with the same floor plan but one had the interior decor colors SHE wanted with a manual awning and the other had a slightly different color scheme with a nice electric awning and wind sensors. Well....you guessed it, I have the manual awning but the good news is she is warming up to the idea of replacing with an electric. :W

Am I right in thinking you NEVER boondock, then? Convection ovens require an electrical hookup or a running genset!

Liz demanded there be a heater in the bedroom that could be used while driving, a fullsized shower, and enough tankage and WH capacity that she can wash her hair in the shower. (Her hair is knee-length.)

She also demanded a carpet next to the bed, while I wanted zero carpet in the bus because it's nearlky impossible to keep clean. That was easy enough: there is a throw rug from Job Lot next to the bed...when dirty, one of us tosses it in the laundry.

Because she goes camping, my wife can have anything she wants within towing capacity.

If only the AGMs would die! I do watch out for new AGMs and my current replacement choice is at Sams Club. I recently saw 100AH grp 31s for $168 by Johnson Controls.

It is time for an annual capacity test.
