We bought a Four Wheel Camper Eagle for our '99 Tacoma 4x4. I love my Taco and liked the simplicity of the FWC. I could actually drive the truck plus camper, no probs. Then, hubby says that the unit is too small for us plus dog and gear and truck is uncomfortable on long hauls.
So, we sold the FWC after a year. We took out a loan to buy our Ford and robbed retirement funds for the Hallmark. While I really like the safe feeling and riding comfort of the F250and more storage/features of the Hallmark, there is no way I can drive this behemoth combo. Maybe on deserted backroads.... The Taco is our daily driver as it is great for hauling dog, groceries, farm stuff.
Anyway, hubby won that one. He also wanted the Ute model that had a marine toilet and indoor shower while I would have been content with outside shower and porta-potty. Not the usual suspects. We also opted for the oven (standard) as you never know when you will want a pizza (we did) or make a casserole (not yet). We like the convenience of the toilet but have yet to use the shower.
We both agreed on everything else like the extended bed, solar, inverter, compressor fridge (had to persuade him that this was the best option for boon-docking), all LEDs and 2 batteries. I got to choose the fabric and flooring. He also chose what he wanted me to look for in a used truck: Ford F250, 4x4, Super Duty, diesel, extended cab, off road package, etc. We work it out.
Happy trails.
