EDIT I was given all of 14 days notice of the increase, with no explanation. My prior employer said contact BCBS and BCBS said contact my prior employer.
We are in the same situation. My wife is retired from Bell South. We were paying $20 per month for the supplement. The new price per month is $160 per month. When I called about the increase they could not give me a reason. I believe that Bell South, now AT&T, self insure and BCBS administers the plan.

Didn't want to drop names, but you got it. The lack of explanation bothers me as much as the increase. No telling if it will continue to happen.
