One of the ADs that popped up while I was reading this was for a Good Sam RX prescription Card.

Interesting. I didn't know Good Sam had a RX discount card.

BTW, Prilosec OTC for me.
My wife's doctor prescribed Pantoprazole (sp) so hers only cost a couple bucks since insurance pays for most of it.

I suffer from acid reflux and have to elevate the head of my bed 4". To solve this in my RV I removed the plywood platform from my bed. Cut a 2x4 corner to corner to make to 2 large wedges. Mounted them on top of the existing bed frame. Ran 2x4's between them to support the original plywood platform as required and remounted the plywood platform. The bed still hinges and opens like it use to so I did not lose any under the bed storage and if I sold the trailer I can easily restore it to it's original configuration.

We didn't care for the option of raising the head of the bed in our Carriage so dutch decided to try using 2 pillows which raised him up a fair amount. This option seems to work for him. hugs, Di

Diet and exercise can alleviate many health issues but not all. Whether medication is required to remedy an ongoing medical condition requires consultation with medical professionals, not armchair advisors that have a severely limited scope on such matters. If the condition is mild, using one of the plethora of OTC (over the counter) remedies may bring suitable relief.

I had horrid heartburn, and my doctor attributed it to being overweight. I also had heart issues, so I got serious about diet and exercise. I went from 222 pounds to 167, and a BMI of 24. I exercise vigorously and can run five miles now.

However, the heartburn got WORSE! So now, I take Prilosec OTC every morning. No more heart burn.

Oh, and I've kept the weight off for three years now!

Excuse my spelling...Omeprozol Magnesium from Wal-Mart. Its the store brand prilosec I cant go a day without it. I used to eat Tums like candy.

Eat properly, not junk and fast food. Most people take pills to mask their problems instead of facing them and dealing with them.
The side affects and not knowing what's really in those pills just isn't worth it. You have one body take care or it won't take care of you.

I was on Prilosec. Its not about acid. Changed my diet. This old body couldn't take the abuse anymore. I have to take it easy on spicy stuff, chocolate etc. Drink plenty of water, eat oatmeal often and loose weight. Bland is better overall. I would have "attacks" with pain all the way to my neck and chest and thought it was all over. I have talked to people that had their kids constantly at the doctor. Changed diet.
My 22 year old daughter went by ambulance to the hospital with chest, neck and arm pains. $17,000 insurance dollars later they had no definitive answer.

I told my wife shes drinking to much and eats total garbage. A couple weeks later she came to me describing the pain. I never hold back so I told her, you eat C _ _ _ _, you drink to much and your getting bigger and bigger. Being over weight puts pressure on the diaphragm, stomach and esophagus.

The very serious side of this whole thing is that over time because of the acid in the esophagus the cell structure can become cancerous.
Address it or not kiddo, you been warned.
The system is more than glad to medicate, that's all they know and there is money in it. Its the system that is in place and its heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry. Yes, industry.
I'm not anti medicine but its not about medicating at the drop of the hat.
NOT preaching on anyone, just sharing.

Proper diet and exercise helps. Medication, side effect another medication for side effect, more side effects..........never ending downward spiral (in a 5th wheel).
