The issue is not gas flow prior to the heat unit as I lite the stove and let it burn for some time to be sure along with running the frige on gas.
Any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix?
It sounds to me like a defective sail switch. Check out this site and it will give you some troubleshooting techniques. I'd start with the sail switch:
