Could not imagine renting my RV out.
An RV is a rolling "city". You have a power plant, a sewer system and a water plant. There is just too much that can go wrong.
Starvos also has the survey running on Escapees.
Starvos, you may have "gleaned" that renting one's RV is akin to renting out a classic car!..:R
Just not something that 99.9% of owners would consider.
And, as others have noted, major companies out there in the renting business.
*If* I was going to rent an RV - the rental company has the depth and resources available to handle any contingencies that might arise.
The private owner does not.
As a renter or sharing an RV from a private party - how do I know it's 100% road-ready and live-in ready?
Why....the owner said so. - Yeah right!
The comparison you have made to various renting/sharing concepts is not too valid either.
Actually sharing a house or condo would be way, WAY less complicated than an RV.
Many years ago, had friends that would rent a large Motor Home for a week for some annual family function.
They arrived at the obvious conclusion - it had been repeatedly "trashed" by renters. Switched to motels/hotels.
BTW - the "renter" (I knew personally) was totally clueless about anything mechanical. Visited his (nice, upscale) home one time at Christmas - he had nailed the X-Mas light string (repeatedly) *through* the electric wiring (of the light strings).
However, he was an *outstanding* CPA.
Unsuspecting RV owner would never know his "limitations".
BTW - as a 30 year (paid) Firefighter, you wouldn't believe the amount of clueless folks out there.....male and female.....that have no idea how to (even) shut off the water supply to their house or condo..:S
Sorry - no survey participation for me!
