It will help align the gears and they will easily go into 2H. If you are on a slight hill you can do it yourself just by releasing the brake as you shift.
This doesn't seem like an alternative that would "work every time". Pushing a JK a foot or so, come on. This isn't an option most times in the mountains with very uneven terrain.
