Help selecting proper tow truck
I am getting a 5th wheel. Avalanche 380fl
Specs of the 5th wheel have a gross combine weight rating of 15,600 when loaded.
Hitch weight is like 2800 pounds.
I am looking on Craigslist for older tow vehicles because I am looking to get a dedicated tow vehicle.
Since this truck will only be used to tow the 5th wheel I have a budget of $10,000
I have been looking at f350's. I found a 2007 f350 drw diesel for a very good price
I thought a f350 drw would be more than enough vehicle but I was suprised when I saw the 5th wheel tow rating is only 15,600
I know my 5th wheel is within the truck specs, but I'm right on the maximum limit which has me uneasy. And this limits us ever from upgrading to a heavier trailer.
Then I looked up a 2016 f350 and the 5th wheel towing capacity is like 26,000 pounds
When did ford greatly increase their tow ratings?
I would prefer to go the f350 route because I like fords, but does the dodge 3500 have more 5th wheel tow rating?
Keep in mind the max I can pay is $10,000
