Help with finding hitch ball

Not sure if anyone else has had this happen, but I shattered one of the swivel sockets on my equalizer hitch making a tight turn. According to Equalizer, the shank on the ball cannot be > 2 3/8".

The shortest shank I can find is 2 1/2". I "think" the one installed now is 2 5/16. Anybody no where to find one 2 3/8" shank or shorter?

Maybe not, and I'm not sure what the clearance is, but Equalizer warns in the manual about shank length and gives a maximum length because the sockets can swing under the ball shank/nut and it's pretty close.

I ordered the genuine Equalizer Brand ball off Amazon for the very reason you indicated; too long of a shank will cause damage. Maybe a local RV shop carries them.
  • What shank diameter is needed? I see plenty shorter than 2 3/8" on etrailer

Etrailer? If you don't see what you need, call them. They are excellent.

Thanks; I checked it out. Still looks like 2 1/2" shank length is as short as it gets for that size ball. I'll have to give them or equalizer a call back. Thanks again.
  • Or if you need one faster go to a local U-Haul joint. They have lots of choices.
