Also can you elaborate on the comment that diesels and 5vers don’t make the best combo. I would have thought just the opposite.
Thanks for all the comments. If we go through with it we will move from a TT with about 8.5K in weight when loaded.
Diesel trucks weigh a lot, but 3/4 ton trucks are restricted by class to a max of 10k lbs GVWR. That means the payload sticker is generally pretty low, even though the truck itself is generally as or close to as capable as the equivalent SRW 1 ton truck. Just stay within your axle ratings and you'll be totally fine. I would guess you've got at least 3,000 lbs to play with on your rear axle. If you're close on weight you can use an Andersen hitch to save a bit (plus they work great).
