- Frozen001ExplorerNot much information on this controller. Looks like it works off of hydraulic pressure, and from the image it seems like the tubing goes right to the controller.
One thing I have noticed is the with Hensley products you either love them or could care less about them as other products work just as good for you.
** Edit **
Did some more searching and it appears to not be hydraulic with only 4 wires to hook up. How could it not be inertia based then? Something has to sense you deceleration rate, it does not just "guess" how fast you are slowing down. - carringbExplorerI had one and hated it. Very jerky braking, or very little braking, and nothing in between. The Prodigy is miles ahead smoothness.
- ReneeGExplorerWe originally had a prodigy, then switched to the TruControl when we traded in our 32' TT for our 35' fifth wheel and switched out or Hensley Arrow for the Hensley TrailerSaver BD3. It was a very good brake controller, but when we purchased our new TV - with the brake controller built in, we didn't need it anymore.
- Bessie-HunterExplorerI got the Hensley controller with my hitch package and the first one did not work all the time. Contacted Hensley and they sent me out an updated one, installed it and it too did not work all the time, very erratic. I called them and they refunded my money for the controller and I reinstalled my Jordon.

Does anyone use or have had a Hensley TruControl brake controller? Interested in how it worked for you, what it was installed in, etc.
Thanks

You have a nice set up I can tell you buy quality. If you want the BEST controller out there MaxBrake is the one.
Hensley and all the others are inertia based, The MaxBrake ties in to your Master Cylinder and applies power to your trailer brakes as you push down on your brake pedal. The more you push the more power is sent. With my 28K combined load it honestly feels like I am only driving my truck with no trailer attached when I apply the brakes. Truly a seamless braking experience!
Appreciate the comments and for looking out for me, but, we are not constantly on the move anymore, the current Jordan has worked fine for
many years and is acting a little strange. I realize Smartbrake, Maxbrake and the like are excellent. We have 2 1/4" x 3 3/8" x 6 electric brakes that work very well. The Hensley looks interesting, hence the question, thanks again.
Jim
The only one of the three that is still in business is the MaxBrake.
So you already know what the best controller works like. Your choice, your money but if you go with an inertia based controller you will wish you had not.
Good luck! - LantleyNomadMy current TV came with a Hensley controller already installed in it. I bought truck used.
I did not like the Hensley controller . It had no boost feature and did not work as well as my Prodigy. I removed the Hensley and replaced it with my old Prodigy controller which I still use. I may have the Hensley controller still sitting out in the garage.
I like Hensley hitches but I don't think much of their brake controllers. - Jim-LindaExplorer II
